The AI curator looks at your photographs the way a thoughtful assistant would — noting what is visible, suggesting what is plausible, and saying clearly what it cannot know.
The process
From photograph to structured record
You upload photographs and label each one: front, reverse, signature, detail.
The images travel to the analysis provider through our servers only — keys and photographs never pass through your browser to a third party.
The provider returns a structured result: each suggestion carries its own confidence score.
The result is validated against a strict schema before it is stored — malformed responses are rejected.
You review every suggestion in the wizard. Accept, correct, or discard — nothing is published automatically.
Accepted values are marked "AI suggested" in the digital passport, so future readers know their origin.
What it looks at
The observations it can offer
- Object type
- Painting, work on paper, decorative object — what kind of thing the photographs show.
- Palette and composition
- Dominant colors, tonal range, orientation and general visual character.
- Visible signature
- Whether a signature or inscription appears in the photographs, with a possible (never certain) reading.
- Condition observations
- Visible craquelure, losses, surface wear — observations, not a conservation report.
- Style and subject cues
- Tags that help the work appear in the right searches and collections.

Every suggestion carries a confidence score. Low confidence is not hidden — it is the point.

The AI sees pixels. You know the work hung in your grandmother's hallway for forty years, that the frame was replaced in the nineties, that a dealer once mentioned a name. The digital passport is where photographic evidence and human memory meet — and your confirmation is what turns a suggestion into a record.

Analysis is not expertise. A professional appraisal or attribution study involves physical examination, archival research and market knowledge that no photograph can replace. When professional services join Maison Levit, they will be clearly separate from AI analysis.
This environment currently runs the built-in demo analyzer, which derives honest observations from image statistics without a live AI model. Analyses are labeled “Demo analysis” wherever they appear. Connecting a live provider requires a single environment variable.
