Maison Levit is a digital home for private art collections — a place where owners catalogue their works, tell their stories, and decide how far to open the door.
Walk into almost any home and there is a painting whose story nobody remembers — bought at an estate sale, inherited from a grandmother, carried across a border. The work is real. The memory around it is fading.
Museums document perhaps a fraction of the world's art. The rest lives in private hands, largely unrecorded: no inventory number, no condition report, no photograph of the signature, no note about where it came from. When the owner is gone, that knowledge goes too.
Maison Levit was built to interrupt that loss. We give every private collection — whether it is four works or four hundred — the tools that institutions use: structured cataloguing, photographic records, provenance notes, and a digital passport for every object. An AI curator helps with the first draft; the owner confirms every fact.
Some collections stay entirely private, a family archive. Some open to the public, and their works can be discovered, saved, enquired about, and — when the owner chooses — acquired. Both are equally at home here.

How we work
Private collections are cultural heritage
Most of the world's art is held privately. When it goes unrecorded, it effectively vanishes from history. We build the tools to record it — carefully, and on the owner's terms.
Unknown does not mean unimportant
A landscape by an unidentified hand can carry as much memory as a museum piece. We treat unattributed works with the same editorial seriousness as signed ones.
Honesty about what is known
Every field in a digital passport is marked: confirmed, owner-provided, AI-suggested, estimated or unknown. We never dress a guess up as a fact, and we never invent attribution.
AI assists, people decide
Our AI curator offers a careful first reading — palette, condition observations, possible readings of a signature. It is a starting point for the owner's review, never a verdict.
The owner sets the boundaries
Public, unlisted or fully private. Price shown, price on request, or not for sale at all. Every collection on Maison Levit is shared exactly as far as its keeper wants.
Discovery over transaction
Works can be acquired here, but Maison Levit is not a shop. It is a place where hidden art becomes visible — commerce follows culture, not the other way around.
